What does it mean to be “skills-forward” in your learning approach?

With in-demand skills continuing to change and enduring prominent skill gaps, organizations have been and are continuing to prioritize upskilling and reskilling programs among their workforces. In fact, building critical skills and competencies is the No. 1 priority for HR leaders in 2022, according to research by Gartner. Employees need more skills — Gartner reports a 6.3 percent annual increase in total skills required for a single job in IT, finance or sales since 2018 — and they need new skills, with nearly one in three skills needed for a job in 2018 predicted to be obsolete in 2022.
