The manager is arguably the most important person in the workforce right now. A good manager offers guidance and support, motivates and inspires, and acts as a bridge between leadership and employee, helping to establish expectations and ultimately achieve organizational goals. The global pandemic has only multiplied the importance of the manager’s role, as entire teams moved to remote work overnight, confusion and uncertainty swelled, and stress skyrocketed as morale suffered.
In fact, in a study conducted by Qualtrics to determine which characteristics have the biggest impact on candidate decision-making, immediate manager emerged as the most influential factor, beating out immediate team, compensation, benefits, company values and career advancement, among others.
