INFOGRAPHIC: Learning Is Essential to Engage the Workplace

Learning and development efforts are elemental to engaging employees.

In an infographic released this May, the Workforce Institute at Kronos shows learning and development is elemental to employee engagement.

The table — The Periodic Table of Elements for a Highly Engaging Workplace Culture — comes as part of the institute’s third and final study from its Employee Engagement Lifecycle research, which also reports on boomerang employees and workplace culture.

“Good chemistry with employees starts at the top with senior leadership identifying the elements of workplace culture that will support their strategy,” wrote Joyce Maroney on the Workforce Institute blog. “Just as important is ensuring this formula is well understood and executed by people managers throughout the organization.”

In addition to learning and development, the table includes:

  • Group 1: People & Relationships
  • Group 2: Leadership
  • Group 3: Benefits and Perks
  • Group 4: Work-Life Balance
  • Group 5: Retention, Onboarding, Work Exchanges, Younger Professional Programming

Maroney said the table is not exhaustive, but it serves as a reminder that workplaces are a complex equation with “people, programs, and policies that each have a daily impact on employee happiness and engagement.”
