Chicago — June 6

The editors of Chief Learning Officer magazine have announced the opening of the 2012 Learning In Practice award nomination period.

The Learning In Practice awards recognize industry leaders who have demonstrated excellence in the design and delivery of employee development programs. Nomination will be accepted until 11 p.m. PT on July 13.

More than 60 awards are given annually in two categories: practitioner and provider. Practitioner awards recognize CLOs and qualified senior learning leaders for their work on behalf of their organizations. The practitioner awards include the industry’s top honor, the CLO of the Year, as well as:

• The Strategy award.
• The Technology award.
• The Trailblazer award.
• The Innovation award.
• The Business Impact award.
• The Global Learning award.
• The Collaboration award.

Gold, silver and bronze awards are bestowed in two divisions in each category, with the exception of the CLO of the Year. Division 1 recognizes organizations with more than 10,000 employees and division 2 is for organizations with fewer than 10,000 employees.

Provider awards recognize qualified service providers, vendors and consultants for their work on behalf of a client organization in eight categories, including:

• Excellence in Academic Partnerships.
• Excellence in Content.
• Excellence in Vendor Partnership.
• Excellence in E-Learning.
• Excellence in Blended Technology.
• Excellence in Gaming and Simulations.
• Excellence in Social Learning.
• Excellence in Community Service.

Finalists will be announced in August 2012 and winners will be recognized during an awards ceremony at the Fall 2012 Chief Learning Officer Symposium, slated for Sept. 19-21 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Lisa Doyle, chancellor of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy and the 2011 CLO of the Year, will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.
