Colorado Springs., Sept. 29 – Cedric Coco, vice president, learning and organizational effectiveness at Lowe's Companies, Inc., has been named the 2009 Chief Learning Officer of the Year by Chief Learning Officer magazine.

Coco was recognized as the 2009 CLO of the Year for his achievement in creating an integrated human capital strategy for the Fortune 50 company that employs approximately 228,000 people in nearly 1,700 stores. Coco partnered with company executives to define the next generation of learning strategies for the company and developed a comprehensive portfolio of products and services for executive, management and hourly stakeholders.

“In just 18 months on the job, Cedric Coco shaped a compelling vision of the future for Lowe's and created a dynamic learning organization to deliver on that vision,” said Norm Kamikow, president and editor in chief of Chief Learning Officer magazine. “It was an incredibly competitive category The judges, consisting of the five past recipients of the award, singled out Cedric's work as truly groundbreaking.”

The CLO of the Year award is given annually to the candidate who best exemplifies leadership qualities, creates the vision for change in his or her organization and adds value to the stakeholders.
