The market for learning and performance management platforms is undergoing significant change. One area in particular is the growth of software-as-a-service solutions, also known as on-demand. This approach enables learning and performance solution providers to consolidate and integrate many technologies into a single, best-of-breed enterprise learning solution. In this Talent Management magazine Webinar — sponsored by GeoLearning — Chris Howard, principal analyst and research director at Bersin & Associates, will define exactly what software as a service is, how it's different from “on premises” software and identify its business advantages for learning organizations. He’ll also separate hype from reality and debunk some of the myths about SaaS related to scalability, security and configurability. Finally, Howard will share some important questions to ask potential vendors when evaluating on-demand learning and performance management systems.

Chris Howard, one of the pioneers of the e-learning industry, has an extensive background in learning and enterprise systems technology. During the last six years, he has worked with hundreds of customers in the deployment of online learning solutions. He is recognized as an industry leader on the unique infrastructure issues that companies face as they embrace new paradigms for distributing and managing knowledge. In 1997, he was one of the original developers involved in bringing Pathware, the first standards-compliant learning management system, to market. The Pathware technology was ultimately sold to Macromedia, where Howard became responsible for learning product management. When the technology was resold to IBM, he helped plan IBM’s strategy to enter the e-learning market. Howard is a regular speaker at industry conferences including online learning, training and ASTD. He holds a B.S. in computer science and an MBA from the University of Houston.
